Hi everyone and welcome to the “get to know us” page.
I’m Richard Hill and I’m the very fortunate Chairman of Church Wilne Water Sports Club.
I say fortunate as not only do we have one of the best water sports clubs in the country, we also have the very best committee. They are all incredibly supportive and enthusiastic members and make my life as Chairman very easy.
I love Watersports and have done for as long as I can remember, during the summer months I spend virtually every weekend at the club with my fiancée, our child safety officer, Katie Smith. We love camping and take great pleasure in not only participating in the sport but also sitting back at the end of an exhausting day and enjoying the company of the rest of the members.
We look forward to welcoming any prospective members to Church Wilne Watersports.
I am really only a recent convert to Wakeboarding having had my first lesson in 2012 – but was immediately totally hooked and joined the club that same year. We share a boat with two other members and can be found at the lake most weekends and nice evenings.
I started waterskiing and wakeboarding at the tender age of 40, fulfilling a lifelong ambition and was instantly hooked. My favourite discipline is Slalom although I regularly Wakeboard, Trick, Wake Skate, occasionally Barefoot and WakeSurf. As a qualified level 2 Waterski and Wakeboard coach I always happy to help out. All of my family share my passion for the sport and love it, although my son, Lewis, is a devout wakeboarder!
Child Welfare Officer
I am a newcomer to water sports having been introduced to the thrill of wakeboarding 12 months ago by my fiancé, who is also the Chairman! I have spent most of my adult life enjoying a variety of sports on dry land, including running the occasional marathon, road biking, skiing and snowboarding so I relished the opportunity to try a new sport. I am also keen to have a go at water skiing as this looks like great fun, and some of our other great committee members have volunteered to teach me. We spend most weekends at the club, often staying overnight and enjoying a barbeque with our friends and family.
First learnt to ski in 1983 at the Holmpierpont cabletow, joined CWWSC in 1985. Over the years I have tried nearly all disciplines, but after competing for the east midlands region in 2009, I got the bug for competitions again and now just concentrate on three event skiing (slalom, tricks and jump). In 2014 I was picked for the senior GB team to compete at the European Championships in Greece. My current overall European ranking is 9th in my age category.
I’ve been coming to the club for about 20 years now – the great facilities and superb slalom lake keep me coming back. There’s also a bunch of like minded, committed individuals which makes it a great place to ski. My preferred disciplines are Slalom Skiing followed by Barefooting which I intend to do more of this year.
Committee Member & SBDA Instructor
First introduced to Water skiing in 1980 at Holme Pierrpont.
After that I was a member of Trumpton Ski Club on the river Trent, then CWWSC in 1985.
After being a member for 2 years I purchased our first competition boat, a Mastercraft and have loved all aspects of the sport ever since.
I have been a SBDA, Skiing and Wakeboard instructor for many years and have recently renewed the qualifications. I have also had advanced training in First Aid and Lifesaving
I can be found at the site most weekends and I’m always happy to help out with the driving, or instruction should you require.
Hi I’m Sam, I am at my happiest when I have some form of board strapped to my feet, I learned to wake board in 2013 at the club and joined after that. Wake boarding is my main discipline, also enjoy knee boarding. I also surf and snow board. Love spending time at the lake with the family, it’s a great place to unwind. If I’m not on the water I’m usually located near the counter in the club house.
If there’s anything you need to know I’ll be more than happy to help 😎
SBDA Intructor and Coach
Anything to do with the water and I’m happiest – having been around boats all my life there is nothing better than spending a weekend on the water. Wakeboarding is my sport of choice but will have a go at most things. As a Qualified Coach and SBDA instructor I am here to help everyone get the most from their time at CWWSC – don’t hesitate to ask if you need some help.
Hi I’m Jono. This is my third year at the club and you will find me there most weekends and evenings in the summer. I am still yet to master the arts of wakeboarding but love to snowboard. If you’re ever in need of a driver I’m always here to help and as part of the SBDA team ready to help new drivers 😎
