The weekend of the 19/20 August saw CWWSC send two teams to the Cutting Edge Competition at Cotswold Waterski Club, South Cerney.
The trip south was made by 9 riders together with an entourage of supporting parents and friends. Whilst it is fair to say that a good time was had off the water, with parents perhaps over indulging in the ‘fun’ aspects of life, it is also very true to say that the kids (and young adults) had a great time both on and off the water.
When compared to just a year ago the results were amazing and whilst we may not have come home with any team silverware we moved up to take the mid-fleet positions with our two teams coming 5th and 8th respectively.
We also saw some amazing personal performances with James Taylor coming 3rd in Boys Kneeboard trick and Emily Youd coming first in Girls Kneeboard trick. Congratulations to both of them for the hard work that they have put in and for putting in great performances on the day.
All other members of the teams – Thomas Taylor, Charlotte Nichols, Louis & Oliver Barton, Molly, Rosie & Maddie Ashdown put in credible performances – especially considering the conditions, different boats and new disciplines.
Special mentions to Thomas Taylor who, at the last minute, participated in Ski Slalom. Having never gone down a Slalom Course before Thomas did an amazing job! Also to Molly Ashdown who (before the age weighting) came 1st girl and 2nd overall in the Kneeboard Trick – a great performance.
Now the work starts for next year. With hard work and dedication we could see CWWSC in a chance of bringing home some silverware.
If you are 16 or under and want to join in with the Cutting Edge programme then get in touch with Steph at the club. And talking of Steph a big thanks goes to her for
giving up the time to help out with the whole Cutting Edge programme.
More photos will be posted ASAP.
Special thanks must go to Simon from Wake & Ski Boats, to Cotswold Waterski Club and to the BWSW for all working so hard to make sure the whole event was a huge success and we all had fun both on and off the water. THANKS.
